We started as a small interior design firm in downtown Michigan, aiming to help home buyers make do with the new space that they had acquired. It soon became obvious that it would make sense to help our clients see beyond the walls and floor plans and be there with them from the get-go. Your intuition about Static vs. Dynamic (or Round vs. Angular) is perfect. You just need to swap the actors slightly.

Here is how to map your analogies (Spherical/Dumbbell, Cis/Trans) onto Particle Physics:

1. Mass at Rest vs. Acceleration

You asked if forces are "mass at rest" and bosons are "accelerating." It is actually the other way around!

  • The "Mass at Rest" (The Sphere): This is Matter (Fermions like electrons and quarks). They are the "stuff." They tend to take up space and obey the exclusion principle (like a solid sphere).
